4 Ways to Increase Your Vibration for a Happier Life
When people say, “we attract what we are,“ they are referring to what happens because of our vibration. Our thoughts and emotions emit vibrations, and these vibrations coincide with what we attract.
When we’re feeling negative emotions or when we’re in a rut, we’re vibrating on a lower frequency, which causes us to attract more negativity into our lives.
When we increase our vibration, it puts us on a higher frequency, thereby allowing us to attract our desires.
What is a vibration?
According to Oxford Languages, a vibration is “a person’s emotional state, the atmosphere of a place, or the associations of an object, as communicated to and felt by others.”
Everything is made of energy, and energy is constantly vibrating. Quantum physics shows us that what appears to be solid matter to us, in the form of items like a desk or a chair, is actually vibrating, albeit slowly.
In its simplest form, a vibration is the energy that you are on.
The reason that our vibration is so important is because we attract into our lives whatever is on the same vibration that we are on.
So if we are feeling low, and feeling poorly, we will attract more of the experiences and thoughts that will make us feel low and feel poorly.
When we elevate our vibration, it helps us to attract more positive things into our life, and actualise our desires.
Why does my vibration matter?
Our vibration matters so much because everything in our external reality is a reflection of our internal vibration. Our external reality constitutes everything in our lives from our friendships, to our jobs, to the amount of money we have, and even to the experiences that we go through.
By working to increase our vibration, we bring in more opportunities to experience joy, love, peace, and whatever it is that we desire because we put ourselves on the vibration of those things.
Especially when in recovery from addiction, it is so easy to slip into a state of low vibration. Experiencing negative thoughts about ourselves, or sitting in difficult emotions that we don’t know how to work through, can often keep us in a low vibration.
Engaging in various activities and practices can help you to increase your vibration. These activities and practises can vary from person to person, but the simplest way to look at what will increase your vibration is to look at what makes you feel good, which is why this is so unique to each individual.
That being said, there are several practises we’ll go over that will help you increase your vibration. It is recommended that after figuring out what works best for you, you engage in the practise consistently and often, building it into your daily routine in whichever way feels easiest for you. Thereby slowly, over time, you can work to shift your low vibration to a higher one and attract the high-vibration life that you desire.
4 Ways To Increase Your Vibration
There are so many things you can do to increase your vibration. Putting yourself in nature, listening to music that makes you happy, working out, or laughing over a funny movie. These are just a few of the many things you can do to elevate your vibe.
Below are 4 ways to increase your vibration:
Do something you loved to do when you were young.
The things that we enjoyed doing when we were young were things that we truly felt connected to and the things that resonated with our souls. Going back to an activity that you enjoyed when you were young can help you feel like your authentic self, and when we align with who we truly are, it helps raise our vibration.
Maybe you loved writing or drawing when you were young. Perhaps you loved playing baseball. Maybe you loved going to the arcade. Reflect on what brought you joy in your youth, and give it a go. Open up a notebook and start writing, just to see what comes out. Purchase a new sketch pad and try to draw again. Go to the batting cages, or visit the old arcade.
Take your time going through your memory vault and reflect on what brought you joy as a child. Set aside some time for yourself to engage in this activity, and have fun with it.
Put yourself around good people
Your tribe is your vibe. When you’re around toxic people, or people who aren’t good for you or your wellbeing, it’s going to lower your vibration. If you put yourself around good people, people who make you laugh, and people who understand you and accept you for who you are authentically, it will help increase your vibration and keep your vibration high consistently.
It might be hard if you have people in your life now who don't support you, who you feel are judging you, or who don't accept you for who you are. It’s not easy, but cutting ties with those people will be so impactful if you want change in your life and if you want growth for yourself. People who don’t support you are going to keep you stagnant and stuck.
If you’re worried that removing negative people from your life will leave you feeling lonely, rest assured that you’re only creating more space for the right kind of people to be in your world. As you continue to grow and vibrate higher, you will attract more of the same type of people into your life. You’ll draw good, authentic, and supportive people into your world.
Be kind to yourself
Something that many people struggle with, whether in recovery or not, is negative self-talk. We can so easily slip into a default state of beating ourselves up, or criticizing ourselves. When we do this, we’re lowering our vibration. Many people do this so often and so naturally that they aren’t even aware they’re doing it.
A simple shift to help you hold kinder thoughts towards yourself is to think about if you would ever allow a friend to talk to you the way you talk about yourself. Chances are, you wouldn’t tolerate it.
Another shift is to look at someone in your life whom you love dearly, such as a parent, sibling, or friend. Talk to yourself the way that you would talk to them.
The first step towards being kinder to yourself is to notice that you’re engaging in negative self-talk. After realizing that you’re doing it, try to affirm something kinder to yourself.
Get in the habit of doing this, and with practise and consistency, it will become second nature. Over time, it will become easier and easier to notice whenever a negative thought does come up, and it will be easier to shift it into a kinder, more positive thought.
Practise gratitude
Practising gratitude is a quick way of helping you increase your vibration.
We can so easily lose sight of all that we have to be grateful for, especially when we’ve been through so much, or when it feels like we have nothing. The truth is, you have so much to be grateful for, and when you look at everything that you have already, it will increase your vibration.
When you put yourself in the place of gratitude, you put yourself on the vibration of abundance. Energetically, abundance is all about having, and when we look at all we have to be grateful for, we are in the energetic state of having.
It can be easy to get caught up in the things you don’t have. It can be easy to wish that you were further along in your recovery, or that you had a certain job, or that you had a certain partner. When experiencing these types of thoughts, shift into a place of gratitude for all the things you do have.
Be grateful for every single thing, whether it’s something external or internal. Externally, you can be grateful that you have a warm bed to sleep in, that you have shelter, that you have easy access to food, and that you have a body that keeps you safe and healthy.
Internally, you can be grateful for your kind heart, for your strength, for your perseverance, and for your willingness to grow.
Gratitude lists
Creating an intentional gratitude practise can help reinforce this behaviour. One way to do this is by writing a gratitude list every morning or every night, whatever feels most natural to you. In a notebook or in the notes section of your phone, simply jot down a list of everything you feel grateful for. It may sound simple, but it will shift you energetically and will increase your vibration.
Final note
When working on increasing your vibration, something to remember is to be patient with yourself and to enjoy the process.
The most important thing is to have the awareness that you’re feeling low and vibrating low. To be able to have awareness of your current state is a huge sign of growth.
Beating yourself up or feeling down about yourself will only lower your vibration, so explore these practices with ease, curiosity, and joy.
It is also important to practice one or all of these techniques on a consistent basis in order to elevate your baseline vibration over time.
